Regenyei’s Harbinger is an impressive looking Longsword built for sport and stage combat or for HEMA in controlled conditions. Thick-edged and blunted, the blade is 51CrV4 Spring Steel with a tempered hardness of 49-51 HRc. The guard and pommel are steel and the grip is wrapped in leather and half-bound with braided steel wire. A robust peen over the pommel gives the sword a strong and lasting mounting into the hilt. Regenyei’s new “Harbinger” is inspired by an original longsword, namely the No: 3605 which was auctioned by “Hermann Historica” in 2011. The piece can be dated to the early XV. century. Regenyei designed this version with an Oakeshott type XVIIIc blade, which is really wide at the cross and has an aggressive tapering to give the sword a very classy and aggressive look.
