This foam Scutum Shield is heavily inspired by the shields used by many legionaries of the Roman Empire. It is robustly constructed from durable, firm EVA foam and encased within a painted shell of handpainted latex which has been skillfully applied to imitate the appearance of real wood, iron and bronze. The strong central grip bar on the reverse is sturdily integrated with the shield and is wrapped in leather. All latex-coated shields need a certain degree of maintenance. For this we recommend using maintenance silicone which can be purchased separately. Epic Armoury Maintenance Silicone is an easy, spray-on application, 100% pure and acid-free making it safe to apply. We recommend using Maintenance Silicone on a regular basis. It maintains the latex-coats flexibility and prevents it from drying out, keeping the product wear and tear resistant. Store your latex shields flat –NEVER on the tip (if applicable). Use a simple sheet or towel lining to prevent it from touching a plastic or rubber surface to prevent your weapon from adhering to other products.
